QCF (NVQ) QUALIFICATION

Training for this will be given to you and your Line Manager by your Assessor at the beginning of your qualification.

1. Qualification

The qualification is made up of Mandatory Units and Optional Units. These are discussed in detail when your Assessor first comes out to see you.

2. Apprenticeship Evidence

Evidence will be gathered for these units through:

Observation - Your Assessor will observe you within your job role and record what they see using the Digital Voice Recorder.

Product Evidence - This is any evidence that you use to carry out your job correctly. The Assessor can also record this using the Digital Voice Recorder.

Witness Testimony - This is carried out with your Line Manager/Supervisor who will give a statement regarding your competence within your job role, giving examples. If it is a team leading or management qualification (level 3) then 2 testimonies are required; one from the Line Manager and one from the member of your staff team.

3. Key Skills

Communication - You will need to generate evidence to show your ability in English; this can be naturally occurring in your job role or generated especially for the qualification. Your Assessor will talk to you about the best and quickest way to gather evidence that suits you both.

Application of Number - You will need to generate evidence to show your ability in Maths. This can be naturally occurring in your job role or generated especially for the qualification. Your Assessor will talk to you about the best and quickest way to gather evidence that suits you both.

You will also be required to complete an online test for Maths and for English at the required level.

This will be discussed in detail with your Assessor at the beginning of your qualification where support and guidance will be offered.

You are expected to complete these within 5 months of your start date.

NB – All or part of the key skills can be exempted depending on previous qualifications; this will be discussed with you by your Assessor.

4. Technical Certificate

This is any evidence that you use to carry out your job correctly. The Assessor can also record this using the Digital Voice Recorder.

You are expected to complete this within 5 months of your start date.

5. Employment Rights and Responsibilities (ERR) Workbook

This is a 42 page work book that you will receive at the beginning of your qualification about your Employment Rights and Responsibilities. You are required to read this and answer relevant questions within it.

6. Etrack

Most Providers will arrange for all work for your framework to be completed on the Etrack system which is accessed via the internet. This is where you and your Manager will have 24/7 access to your qualification; you will be able to see your progress towards the qualification, any assessments completed and the scores for each assessment, emails to and from your Assessor and all assessment plans and visitstowards the achievement of your qualification.

7. Reviews

Reviews are carried out every 4 – 12 weeks: they are in place to check your progress. Your Assessor will set you new targets and also identify any training or support you will need. The summary sheet from the Etrack system will be used at your review as this shows your progress to date. This will take place with yourself, your Assessor and your Line Manager where they will also have an input.

After each visit you will receive verbal feedback and written feedback via Etrack. Your Assessor will assess the evidence gained which will show your progress as a percentage on Etrack. You will then receive a new assessment plan through Etrack regarding your next planned visit which will outline your next meeting and this will have been discussed with yourself and your Line Manager at the last visit.
